Former DIA member Ahn Somyi has officially denied allegations linking her romantically to entertainment executive Kim Kwang Soo, vowing to take firm legal action against the controversial YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute for spreading false claims.
On March 28, her agency, Moden Berry Korea, released a formal statement addressing the issue. The company stated that Ahn Somyi had become the target of malicious online comments, baseless rumors and personal attacks, and declared their intent to pursue legal measures to protect their artist.
“We have continuously confirmed the spread of false information and malicious content targeting our artist Ahn Somyi across online platforms and social media,” the agency stated. “After thoroughly reviewing the situation, we have decided to proceed with legal action.”
The controversy stems from a video uploaded on March 2, 2024 by Garo Sero Institute titled “[Exclusive] DIA Members Fight Over the Same Man“, in which they alleged that Ahn Somyi had been in a relationship with PocketDol Studio CEO Kim Kwang Soo.
“The claim that Ahn Somyi was dating Kim Kwang Soo is a clear falsehood, and we will be pursuing legal action in response,” Moden Berry Korea emphasized.
The agency also warned that all future acts of defamation, slander or rumor-spreading will be met with strict legal consequences, including civil lawsuits and criminal charges. “No leniency will be given. We are actively collecting evidence to support both civil and criminal proceedings.”
Ahn Somyi, who debuted with DIA in 2017 and is currently pursuing solo activities, signed an exclusive contract with Moden Berry Korea to support a fresh start in her career. The agency reiterated its commitment to protecting its artists and fostering a healthy fan culture.
This development comes as Garo Sero Institute is already under heavy public scrutiny for its involvement in a separate, high-profile controversy involving actor Kim Soo Hyun. The channel has been widely criticized for its coverage of the ongoing scandal surrounding Kim Soo Hyun’s alleged past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron.
As public backlash against sensationalist reporting intensifies, Moden Berry Korea’s swift legal stance may signal a broader pushback against reckless rumor-mongering in the entertainment industry.
